Each year, we work alongside Massey University to facilitate two fifth year externships.
During summer, students come for one week to understake the Rural Practice Externship. The aim of this rotation is to increase technical skills, especially pregnancy testing, and further students' understanding of vet/client relationships and the role of vets in agribusiness.
Through spring, we host the next round of students for their Production Animal Spring Medicine Externship. This rotation has a focus on spring medicine for tdairy cattle with the aim of familiarising students with practical obstetric skills that they will use in practice. This week allows for building on animal handling skills, as well as interaction with clients.
