Are you a Mixed Animal Veterinarian with experience in sheep, beef and equine practice and a handy companion animal skill set looking for your next adventure? We are looking for an amazing generalist vet to join our busy and welcoming team in Wanaka, Central Otago, where every day is an opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of the animals we care for and their people.

We're a proactive and passionate team that thrives on collaboration, growth and creating a supportive environment. This full-time role (minimum 32 hours per week, plus rostered Saturday and on-call rotation) is your chance to work with a fun and dedicated group of professionals who care as much about your development as they do about delivering exceptional care.

About the Role:

As a Mixed Animal Veterinarian, you'll have the responsibility of supporting our LA team delivering exceptional service to the Otago farming community, while assisting our growing equine ambulatory service and providing excellence in care to our Petfirst clients and their fur families.

We're looking for someone with a hunger to support the Otago farming community and equine community while demonstrating a collaborative approach to pet care, fostering strong relationships with our clients and farmers - this is truly an all creatures great and small role!

If you value a supportive environment, professional growth, and a chance to make a meaningful difference, this role is for you. Our on-call roster is structured to ensure a balance between your work and personal life, with weekends on-call generally once every five weeks or less.

What You'll Bring!

We're looking for someone who's passionate about animals as we are and brings:

  • New Zealand Veterinary Council Registration and Annual Practicing Certificate (or equivalency enabling registration).
  • A Bachelor of Veterinary Science with 3+ years of experience in Mixed Animal Practice.
  • A clinical skill set including surgery and consulting with an ability and willingness to undertake sole charge as and when required.
  • A warm, approachable personality that makes both customers and colleagues feel valued and supported.
  • Exceptional communication skills, ensuring smooth collaboration with your team and clarity for pet parents.
  • A strong sense of compassion and empathy, treating every patient as if they were yur own.
  • A team-first mindset thriving in a collaborative environment where everyone supports each other.
  • Curiosity and a growth mindset, eager to embrace new skills and advancements in veterinary care.
  • Reliability and professionalism, ensuring your work is consistent, accurate, and of the highest standard.
