Meet Our Pet Vets

Our pet vet team can’t wait to meet you and your new animal or long-term friend in one of our NZ pet veterinarian clinics. Hopefully we’ll see you for a routine check-up and cuddle, rather than an emergency, but your animal is in safe hands with our pet vets either way. For now, our pet veterinarians would like to take the opportunity to tell you a little bit about themselves. This way you’ll see a familiar face when you pop into one of our 16 clinics.

Kate Gloyn
Kate Sommerville
Veterinarian

Kate graduated from Massey University in 2007 and is a large animal veterinarian based in Otorohanga.  Kate grew up on a dairy farm near Matamata, and from there her interest in the dairy industry stemmed.  Kate is passionate about dairy medicine, in particular reproduction, and enjoys interacting with farmers and using Infovet in identifying problems and areas where she can add value. Kate places great emphasis on client service and on tailoring plans and programmes to every farm, and gets great satisfaction in being involved with increased farm productivity and profitability. Kate is currently a member of the Dairy Cattle Veterinarians Committee.

Clinic Coordinator - Havelock North

I have a National Certificate in Veterinary Nursing from Auckland Institute of Technology.  I left school in my 7th year and worked in a Lawyer's firm before getting into my dream job of vet nursing in 1993 which I did for 7 years then went off to have twin boys.  I then worked for Animalz part time in the office and reception then frinally back to nursing. I enjoy reading, horse riding and doing cool stuff with my boys like biking.

Veterinarian

After graduating in 2011 I worked in Canterbury predominantly as a large animal vet for two years. I then decided to do an OE and have only just got back from the UK where I worked and travelled for 18 months. It’s great to be back in New Zealand and see my dog and the rest of my family. I’m looking forward to settling into a routine here.
