Large Animal Technician/Vet Nurse - BVetTech or equivalent

Located: Taumaranui

We are currently seeking a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology graduate to join our veterinary team based in our VetEnt clinic located in Taumarunui. This role will be a mix of nursing with our companion animal team, as well as technician support out on farm. Reception/support staff duties will also be required as part of this role at times.

The person we are looking for will be versatile, will be able to relate with all types of companion animal and large animal clients, work well as part of a team and also be happy to work on their own at times. Good organisational skills, flexibility and attention to detail are important requirements for this role. Our ideal candidate will be willing and able to perform a wide variety of companion and large animal technical duties including but not limited to collecting diagnostic samples, vaccinations, teatsealing, metrichecking, lab work disbudding, assisting veterinarians with daily activities, including work on our sheep conveyor. You must have stock handling experience and a good knowledge of health and husbandry of animals in a rural environment. Ongoing training will be part of the role.

Taumarunui is a small rural town with waterways in every direction, it's a popular trout fishing and hunting destination. Rock climbing, caving and mountain biking are all easy to access, and it isn’t far for skiing on Ruapehu in the winter. All in all, Taumarunui is paradise for those who love the great outdoors.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology qualification or at least 2 years’ experience as a veterinary technician. Knowledge of current legislation and the animal welfare act, would an advantage.
