Wairoa has serviced sheep and beef farmers in the area for over 50 years. The clinic has 180 sheep and beef farms and a further 10 dairy farms that are covered from Lake Tutira to Tiniroto and Mahia Peninsular. Wairoa employs 3 veterinarians who cover both large and companion animals.  We still have a strong Vet Club membership which has been in place for a number of years also.

Areas of service and expertise include:

  • Reproduction (female) - best farm practice (education for farm workers), pregnancy testing, reproduction analysis, problem solving.
  • Reproduction (male) - bull and ram testing.
  • Anthelmintic resistance monitoring - FEC testing, analysis, product recommendation, product supply.
  • BVD management programme.
  • Farm Dogs - vaccinating, health checks, orthopedic surgery, nutritional advice, product supply.
  • Companion animal - health checks, treatment, sterilisation procedures, surgery.
  • A vast range of both large animal commercial products and pet products in our showroom.
  • An on-site lab facility which allows us to perform facial eczema spore counting and FEC.
  • The Prattley Sheep Conveyor system is also available for hire
  • We are also providing a facial eczema spore monitoring service (Spore MAP)for all areas of the district and clients who wish to subscribe to this service can join the email distribution list. Please email wairoa@vetent.co.nz.

Wairoa also has a team of people in various roles which are aimed at supporting the day-to-day activities of the branch including our Vet Nurse Catherie McGregor, Maree Jarden( Admin and work coordinator) Michele Murphy (TB Test coordinator and Techician). Our Vet team consists of Joe Bennett,  Alanda Rafferty and Cleo Rothschild. Jason Haar looks after commercial sales and Ben Green looks aftter the administration management of the branch as well as the company role of Training and Health and Safety.
