VetEnt is the trading name for veterinary practices owned by Veterinary Enterprises Group, with branches in the West Coast (Te Awamutu, Otorohanga, Te Kuiti, Taumarunui, Turangi, in the East Coast (Gisborne, Wairoa, Havelock North) and in the South Island Ashburton and Timaru, Lincoln, Leeston and Halswell.
There are 64 veterinarians employed by VetEnt and Veterinary Enterprises SI Ltd predominantly servicing dairy, sheep, beef, grazing operations and companion animal. We offer comprehensive 24 hr/7 day emergency and routine veterinary services with an additional focus on contract research for pharmaceutical companies and preventative animal health programmes. VetEnt is one of New Zealands largest veterinary business with a wide range of capabilities.
We provide emergency and routine veterinary services to all animal species that is expected of rural veterinary practices. We strive for excellence and best practice in what we do and take a proactive approach to servicing the needs of our clients. Amongst our 64 vets, we have a number with special interests:

Adrian Joe is a foundation member of the National Mastitis Advisory Committee and was a member of the original group that developed the SAMM plan. Ex chairman Vet Learn Foundation. He has presented at numerous overseas and New Zealand veterinary conferences and farmer meetings on mastitis and reproduction.

Steve Cranefield initiated and developed the Leptosure programme and conducted pregnancy testing training on behalf of the Dairy Cattle Veterinarians at numerous venues throughout New Zealand.

Chris Mulvaney is an advisor to two large scale farm business improvement projects and Manages several extensive on-farm research projects including iodine deficiency in pregnant ewes, long acting drench treatments, cost benefits of cattle worm control programmes, drench resistance, footrot and lice in sheep.

Don MacColl was involved in MRDC monitor farms, industry video productions, AgResearch mentor groups and NZVA special interest group - office holder and conference contributor. He was involved in developing VeTech, a farmer funded animal health management programme for our sheep and beef clients and developing a freeze brand identification technique for pig dogs. He is currently a director of Pasture Peak, Veterinary Enterprises and AgriNetworks, and also facilitates the Veterinary Enterprises Practice Support programme for new graduate employees.

Ben Hodgson has interests in Sheep and Beef Cattle, Working Dogs, Deer and Horse work. He has strong involvement with Drystock, working with Clients throughout the northern King Country, Waitomo and Waipa Districts. He has particular interests in Beef Cattle reproduction and Trace Element management.

Julian Usher has worked in dairy practice in the UK and New Zealand and is passionate about all aspects of dairy medicine. He has particular interests in lameness and reproductive problems and is both a DairyNZ Healthy Hoof advisor and a DairyNZ Incalf advisor.

Ian Hodge has been working at Riverside Vets, which is a member of the Veterinary Enterprises Group of practices, for 10 years as a dairy practitioner. He is a member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists (dairy cattle medicine) and now is working as a mastitis consultant in the South Island.
Support also comes in the form of our 130 staff made up of vet nurses, administrators and store personnel providing the ongoing back up the business needs to perform the high quality service we are famous for.
The ability to share knowledge between the VetEnt clinics is the greatest asset of the VetEnt brand. Our clients' quest for knowledge is never ending and although we may hope to have all the answers, at times it is just not possible. Our VetEnt team throughout New Zealand has an abundance of experience and expertise at each of the clinics' disposal and more often than not a simple telephone call is all it takes to resolve a question a client may have.
